Washington, D.C. September, 2015—Nearly 650 Women Leaders Registered for National Council of Catholic Women’s 95th anniversary celebration September 9-12 in Orlando, Florida.  

Orlando, Florida, will be the site of the National Council of Catholic Women’s 2015 National Convention and 95th anniversary celebration. Held at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista from September 9-12, the convention is the annual gathering of women leaders from Catholic women’s organizations in parishes and dioceses throughout the United States. Nearly 650 Catholic women—representing hundreds of thousands of Catholic women nationwide—will gather from across the country for leadership development, spiritual renewal and fellowship.   

The opening liturgy will be celebrated at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe by NCCW Episcopal Liaison Most Reverend James V. Johnston, Jr., Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, and concelebrated by Most Rev. Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee. Friday's liturgy celebrated by Most Rev. John Noonan, Bishop of Orlando, will honor the deceased members of NCCW. The closing liturgy at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista, celebrated by the Most Rev. Thomas Wenski, Archbishop of Miami, and concelebrated by Most Reverend David R. Choby, Bishop of Nashville, will include the installation of the 2015-2017 officers of NCCW - President Sheila Hopkins, Tallahassee, FL; President Elect Maribeth Stewart, New Haven, CT and Secretary Jean Kelly, Elm Grove, WI.  

Keynote speakers for the convention include Florida State Senator Anitere Flores; Dr. Carolyn Woo, President and CEO of Catholic Relief Services; Richard Doerflinger, Associate Director of the Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; Marybeth Hicks, Marketing Director for FAITH Catholic and Brandon Vogt, Content Director for BishopElect Robert Barron's Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. Training sessions will be conducted by the three commissions - Spirituality, Leadership and Service - as well as training for new presidents by the Leadership Training Development Team.   

At the closing session of the convention, new province directors from several areas of the United States will be installed. Special entertainment for the convention includes a presentation at the 95th Birthday Luncheon and Disney entertainer Billy Flanigan, currently playing the part of Nemo at Disney, at the closing banquet.   
"It is always a joyous occasion for sisters in Council to come together to learn about new programs and ideas, renew friendships and grow in love for the Lord as we continue to seek ways to serve him and the Catholic Church," said Sheila Hopkins, convention co-chairman and incoming NCCW President.
