OUR MISSION

The National Council of Catholic Women acts through its members to support, empower, and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership, and service. NCCW programs respond with Gospel values to the needs of the Church and society in the modern world.

Founded in 1920 by the U.S. Catholic bishops to provide all Catholic women a common voice and an instrument of unified action

Legacy Giving

Together, we are partners in living our mission statement: acting through our members to support, empower, and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership, and service.  The opportunity to build on our rich history rests with each and every member.  Our ability to reach new frontiers, to engage more Catholic women, and to better our society depends on a sound financial future.

Pope Leo’s First Pilgrimage

Outside the Vatican: Shrine of

Our Lady of Good Counsel

Pope Leo XIV made his first journey outside the Vatican on Saturday, May 10 with a surprise pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Genazzano, Italy.

Located about 30 miles southeast of Rome, the shrine has been a center of Marian devotion for centuries. The origins of the shrine date back to the fifth century, when a church was first built in gratitude for the town’s contributions to the construction of Rome’s Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. In 1356, the shrine was entrusted to the Augustinian Order, the religious community to which Pope Leo belongs.

NCCW has as its patroness, Our Lady of Good Counsel. Over this 105 years of existence the National Council of Catholic Women founded by the US bishops in 1920 have relied on our Blessed Mother Mary to guide and inspire all Catholic women along our faith journey.
